Memorial Disc Golf Course - Arvada (Denver) The Johnny Roberts Memorial Course was a cool course for sure. It is referred to as the 'grand-daddy ' of disc golf courses in Colorado. It has a fairly fast flowing stream running through the 18 hole course - and it comes into play on most holes. A painters extension pole with hook attached is essential and carried by the locals. It reminded me of Pearce Estates Park in Calgary, but on a larger scale. A definite 'gotta play' course. PDGA Directory Badlands Disc Golf Course at Camenisch Park - Federal Heights (Denver) Check out the Badlands Disc Golf course. It is an absolutely HUGE 18 hole course! Distances on holes are 600' +, with multiple target setups per tee-off giving lots of variation in the course. Amazing course set in a large valley park in Federal Heights. Worth a visit when you have a few hours spare time in Denver - lots of walking. Check out the link above - it has photos of every hole. PDGA Directory Applewood Disc Golf Course - Golden A great little course in Golden (Denver) is The Applewood Disc Golf Course. 9 Discatcher baskets, good for a quick game. Again, check out the link - lots of photos. PDGA Directory Edora Disc Golf Course - Fort Collins A one hour drive up the I25 to Fort Collins from Denver brings you to the Edora Disc Golf Course. Many tournaments are held here. The course circles around tennis courts and a skateboard park. 12 foot cement tee-offs are a nice touch. When in Fort Collins be sure to check the Wright Life store. They have many many 100's of discs for sale and an endless selection of cool stuff for golfers, ultimate, snow boarders, skate boarders etc. PDGA Directory As a side note, I got pulled over by the cops when in town and he gave me this card. Nice enough guy, just don't laugh at his name.... Cottonwood Creek Disc Golf Course - Colorado Springs About 1 hour south of Denver is Colorado Springs, and the Cottonwood Creek Disc Golf Course. Nice park. PDGA Directory Loomiller Park Disc Golf Course - Longmont Just north of Denver is Longmont. A great little short course with a water hazard. Across from high school. PDGA Directory Frisco Disc Golf Course - Frisco West of Denver into the mountains is Frisco. The course is alpine like Canmore but not as many elevation changes, and more open. There are still LOTS of trees! Challenging course, well worth visiting. The 2nd photo is of the Frisco Peninsula - that is usually all water just short of the bench! Very dry year in Colorado (2002). PDGA Directory Copper Mountain Disc Golf - Copper Mountain Just west of Frisco is Copper Mountain. The 18 hole course starts at the base of the American Eagle chairlift - just follow the signs. The course goes UP the ski hill and in some cases has very steep inclines as it works is way up and then down the hill. Lots of trees! Challenging course, well worth visiting, you will need good boots tho. Very nice facilities at the village at the bottom of the mountain. PDGA Directory Vail Disc Golf Course - Vail Further west into the mountains is Vail. I got there two days after the Labour Day weekend, which is when the lift closes down that goes to the top of the mountain and then you play down. After that weekend the lifts are scaled back to weekends only. Very nice facilities at the village at the bottom of the mountain. PDGA Directory |
