On
August 12th and 13th 2005, the new and very beautiful Wetaskiwin Park Disc
Golf course held it’s debut tournament as part of the 2005 Alberta Senior’s
Games (Seniors in Motion), and received rave reviews from players and
spectators alike.
The same very challenging course
tested some of the best disc golfers in Western North America, two weeks
later, as part of a tournament sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf
Association. The 2005 Alberta ‘Open’ Disc Golf Tournament,
occurred on August 27th and 28th, 2006.
How Do I Get There?
Turn west (right) at the first set of
lights if coming from Edmonton on Highway 2A (ie turn
right
at Highway 13, the Camrose intersection) You'll pass the Ball Golf course on
your left. After only about 2 minutes you'll go over a steep hill. Turn
right at the intersection at the bottom of the hill. The parking lot is just
up the road on the right hand side. Otherwise, if you're not
from Edmonton....The Wetaskiwin Disc Golf Course is located in Wetaskiwin,
Alberta, which is halfway between Red Deer and Edmonton, just east of the #2
highway. From Wetaskiwin’s most familiar landmark, the Water Tower, the
course is located about 1 mile north on the 2A and ½ mile west on Highway
13. Click on image for map.
